The analysis follow Hall ([1992] 2006) and Silva (2000), concerning contemporary social identities, and Bakhtin’s ([1979] 1997) concept of speech genres, whose categories serve also as methodological categories for the analysis. The results show the profile depicted of the teenager consumer is still homogeneous and standardized, not compatible with fragmented contemporary society. ; O foco principal deste artigo é analisar se as identidades juvenis construídas pelas tiras do Gaturro encontram-se em consonância com uma visão essencialista e homogeneizante ou se aportam uma visão perpassada pela heterogeneidade de práticas socioculturais, que podem levar à construção de identidades fragmentadas. Para proceder à análise, apropriamo-nos dos pressupostos teóricos de Hall ([1992] 2006) e Silva (2000), acerca da identidade contemporânea, e do conceito de gêneros do discurso de Bakhtin ([1979] 1997), a fim de construirmos nosso escopo metodológico, ancorado, prioritariamente, nas categorias estabelecidas pelos autores supracitados. Após a análise, observamos que o perfil de juvenil consumidor presente nas tiras é homogêneo e padronizado.
